An intensive outpatient program, or IOP, is a step below partial hospitalization on the continuum of care. You attend scheduled therapy sessions at The Ranch Pennsylvania Outpatient Center for a few hours at a time, several days a week, and spend the rest of your time at home, at work or at school. IOP offers more support than weekly therapy alone without requiring you to put your life on hold.
At The Ranch Pennsylvania Outpatient Services, IOP is available for substance use disorders, mental health conditions, or both. Many clients step down to IOP after completing our partial hospitalization program or residential treatment at The Ranch Pennsylvania; others begin here when they have a stable, supportive home and need structured help to stay on track.

Our intensive outpatient program supports adults experiencing substance use disorders — including alcohol, opioid, benzodiazepine, cocaine and methamphetamine addiction — as well as mental health conditions such as depression, anxiety, PTSD and trauma-related disorders. Treatment tracks are available for addiction, mental health, or co-occurring disorders.
Length of stay depends on your needs, progress and insurance coverage. Most clients complete IOP in approximately 5–6 weeks, followed by aftercare planning and alumni support.
IOP clients live at home in the community and travel to The Ranch Pennsylvania Outpatient Center for scheduled sessions. If you need supportive housing during treatment, our partial hospitalization program includes the option to stay at our Outpatient Residence.
